Our Fibre Technology Laboratory has been purpose-built to provide the capability to perform a wide range of technical services to the forest operations business.

Employing four full-time staff, the lab is one of two such labs in Australia. We conduct tests on wood fibre, chemical pulping, paper sheet making and paper properties.

The lab’s activities are part of our ongoing investment in quality. Accredited by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) ISO 17025 and ISO 14001, the lab focuses on fine writing and printing papers typically produced from short eucalyptus fibre. The lab also conducts a range of activities to support our tree breeding program.

We are continually looking for ways to improve our capacity. As such, we are currently investigating ways to expand the capabilities of the lab to encompass plantation health and nutrition. This will greatly improve plantation productivity. We are also seeking to more closely align the tree breeding program with existing and emerging wood fibre markets. Our long-term aim is to create a centre of excellence for cool climate plantation eucalyptus research and development.
