In a first for the Australian plantation forest sector, Forico and CO2 Australia have secured the opportunity to enter into a long-term contract to sell carbon credits generated from plantation forestry activities to the Australian Government under its $2.55 billion Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF).

The revitalisation of the hardwood plantation sector in Tasmania received a massive boost today with the official opening of the refurbished Surrey Hills Woodchip Mill south of Burnie in northwest Tasmania. The mill is managed by Forico Pty Limited and represents an expansion of processing capacity for the northwest.

New Forests today announced the launch of Forico Pty Limited, an integrated timber plantation, forest management and timber export business based in Launceston, Tasmania. The announcement comes as New Forests and KordaMentha, Receivers of Gunns Ltd, have now completed the sale of the ex-Gunns Tasmanian forestry estate.
