Forico is Tasmania’s largest private forestry asset management company, providing sustainable forest products and services to global markets.
Our globally certified forests include 89,000 hectares of plantation, managed for wood fibre production. Additionally, we manage 77,000 hectares of natural and native forest, which is not harvested but maintained for conservation, biodiversity and cultural values.

Branching out...
The Long Reach Mill is a picturesque 30-minute drive from Launceston on the East Tamar. We receive 100% plantation grown sustainable wood, process this, and export for use in pulp and paper products. Long Reach deep-water port accommodates some of the largest woodchip vessels in the world. The mill is currently in the process of capital project investment and looking at continual improvement to deliver further value.
We are seeking applications from people who are keen to expand their knowledge in the forestry industry or from those who wish to join us with fresh eyes, and enthusiasm about working in the forestry industry.
Who will join our journey…
Applicants do not require experience in an operator role or forest/process industries to be a great fit in this position. We are keen to hear from people with diverse and varied experience, transferable skills, motivational drive, and people who are motivated to do a great job at anything they turn their hand to.
Whether you’ve logged years of experience in a woodchip mill or are looking to branch into something new, we’re seeking individuals with:
• Clear and effective communication skills
• The desire to be a valued member of a cohesive, solutions-focused team
• A strong safety focus, with the ability to operate safely within safe working systems and practices
• Basic computer skills
Working roster...
Our Long Reach Mill operates on a rotating roster, Monday to Friday (morning and afternoon shifts). The full-time roster involves working a 9 day fortnight.
There are also occasional requirements for operators to cover day-night rotating 12 hour shifts for short periods of time while ship-loading activities occur.
