The bare roots of the job
Our Resource Analyst (Tactical) plays a pivotal role for Forico’s Resource Information Team based at either our North (Techno Park) or North-West (Ridgley) Office locations. Taking draft outputs from the strategic model to produce a practical and efficient operational harvest and replant plan, known as the Three-Year Plan (3YP).
Your technical expertise in spatial and resource information management, forest growth modelling and effective stakeholder engagement will all be put to daily use in pragmatic analysis, process development, automation and documentation to produce practical medium term tactical schedules and deploy these to various personnel and business systems
This tactical schedule comprises highly accurate, time critical information that directly supports business planning, annual budgeting cycles, harvesting and planting schedules, and carbon registration decisions.
As a member of the Resource Information Team, you’ll work closely with forestry, carbon, planning and silviculture teams to identify and integrate tactical insights into key systems including ArcGIS Enterprise, Remsoft Operations, GeoMaster, Canopy (M-Files) and FME.
In this role, you will:
Be instrumental in collaborating across a range of operational areas to transform strategy into reality
Prepare input data with exceptional precision for the estate-wide strategic Estate Valuation Model (EVM) process
Successfully engage stakeholders to transform conceptual model outputs into a practical tactical plans
Publish and integrate the tactical plans across related business systems, including GeoMaster, GIS, Remsoft Operations, M-Files and others
Conceptualise and deploy monitoring and reporting capability that supports delivery of tactical plans
Participate in key innovation projects, including modelling optimisation and system development
Provide internal and external stakeholders with timely, relevant and accurate tactical insights
Contribute to continuous improvement across tactical models, systems and both spatial and non-spatial data processes.

Our ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in operational forestry, resource management or environmental science, with experience in resource analysis, scheduling, spatial systems or data modelling.
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Qualifications & Technical Skills
Tertiary qualifications in Forestry, Resource/Environmental Management, Agriculture or a related field
Advanced FME and experience with SQL
High level GIS and analytical skills in spatial and nonspatial data (ArcGIS Enterprise preferred)
Experience with modelling tools (e.g. TigerMoth, Patchworks, 3-PG)
Familiarity with forestry-focussed systems such as Remsoft, ArcGIS Enterprise workflows, Python/ArcPy is desirable
Understanding of (experience in) forest inventory, growth and yield, or tactical scheduling will be highly regarded
A current driver’s licence
